Senior Manager QHSE - St. Louis, MO

Lead an integrated Quality & HSE team for the site including Quality Control and QHSE Assurance in support of the core values and principles of the company.  Charged with ensuring a best in class QC laboratory and driving continuous improvement through an integrated QHSE assurance team which features a vision of being an injury-free company and shipping defect-free product to our clients.  Ensure overall compliance with company QHSE principles and policies while being recognized by the business as a solution partner in resolving challenges.  Build organizational expertise in identifying, prioritizing, and mitigating risk.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Successfully lead and develop team members and ensure the team functions in a highly effective and efficient manner.  Advise site management on all aspects of QHSE policy, planning and management in order to execute company strategy and ensure site QHSE regulatory compliance.
  • Effectively manage customer inquiries/complaints audits in a way which gives our clients the highest levels of confidence in Firmenich.  Develop and deploy QHSE improvement strategies and plans aligned with regional and local teams and Excellence Networks.
  • Ensure management systems in place and effective, including but not limited to Process Safety Management, HACCP, GMP, ISO and OHSAS.
  • Establish effective working relationships with local management to positively promote, encourage, and sustain a genuine commitment to effective QHSE management.
  • Provide advice and practical help to ensure that local managers are well placed to accept and fulfill their QHSE line management responsibilities.
  • Implement best practices, deploy QHSE tools and working directly with line management, adopt a “hands on” approach to the development and implementation of local solutions.
  • Ensure Quality and HSE reporting systems and databases are leveraged by the site as continuous improvement and performance measurement tools.  Ensure continuous accuracy of the data.
  • Ensure arrangements are in place for QHSE audits/reviews and inspections of the workplace, plant and equipment in order to monitor compliance with the Company QHSE Management System and local legal requirements.
  • Build effective working relationship with key regulatory bodies, including, but not limited to, USDA, FDA. Ensure all occupational injuries/illnesses, dangerous occurrences, incidents and customer claims are fully investigated and reported with findings and recommendations for preventive action and corrective action where appropriate.

 

Requirements:

  • A four-year degree in Engineering, Quality, HSE, Administration or related field with 10 – 15 years of QHSE experience with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ISO management systems and principles including but not limited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, and OHSAS 18001.
  • Experience with USDA and FDA a plus

  • SAP experience preferred.
