Health, Safety & Environmental Manager - St. Louis

Key Responsibilities:

The site Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) Manager plays a key role in the site management team to ensure overall compliance with the Corporate HS&E Management System while being recognized by the business as a solution partner in resolving challenges and building site capability in identifying, prioritizing, and mitigating risk.

This position will ensure the local management systems are effectively designed, implemented, and controlled, highlighting significant areas of risk to site management and proposing solutions. Provide data analysis, trending, and recommendations to the site in support of continuous improvement and develop and provide technical and administrative direction on all HS&E matters at the site.

  • Facilitate and implement Corporate HS&E Management System strategy and performance targets by collaborating with local and regional management.
  • Support line management through investigation of all injuries, illnesses and incidents, and ensure outputs are used to enhance the Management System.
  • Review plant HS&E compliance and advise management accordingly.  Make suggestions for improvements and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the site operations to  ensure key risks are well-understood and mitigated through the site Management System.
  • Conduct routine audits and employee contacts to ensure the efficacy of the site Management System.  Report on deviations from standard to site management team and ensure Line Management lead issue resolution.
  • Support management in all site permitting requirements and in maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 system certifications.



  • B.S. Degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 10 - 20 years of experience in HS&E manufacturing environment. Chemical industry experiences a plus.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM)

  • Familiar with root cause and risk assessment methodologies
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret statistical data, general business periodicals, professional journals, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation drawings/diagrams from vendors and design engineers, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to critically evaluate results, make recommendations and reports on projects.
  • SAP, Radius, Easitrak, TRI-ME, CoreDB – a plus
