Scientist, Material Science

Location: Shanghai, China


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop methods for qualitative and quantitative characterization of organic & inorganic materials (e.g. biomaterials, polymers, food materials) and fragrance and flavor ingredients in applications (e.g. body/home care products, foods and beverages).
  • Explore new and advanced analytical technologies for solving challenges in interdisciplinary projects with focus on those materials science related.
  • Collaborate with perfumery and flavor colleagues and other enabler functions including IP and regulatory.
  • Keep up with scientific literature and competitors’ products. Identify and initiate collaboration programs with external partners.
  • Report work in the form of research reports, publications and presentations at project meetings, thus contributing to decision-making processes.
  • Supervise technician(s).


We value:


  • PhD in analytical chemistry or physical chemistry or materials science or medicinal chemistry with 1-3 years of professional experience (industry or post-doctoral), preferably in a field of bioactive materials and related technologies.
  • Hands-on expertise in development and validation of analytical methods based on GC, GC/MS, HPLC, and LC/MS, and characterization techniques of colloidal systems such as GPC, DSC, and SEM.
  • Knowledge and experience in data processing, statistical analysis, and modelling tools is a plus.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
  • Capability of independently managing and delivering complex projects.
  • Team spirit, creativity and good communication skills.
