Senior Chemist - Princeton, NJ

Location: Princeton, NJ

The successful candidate will combine skills in both organic synthesis and instrumental analysis to discover, develop and push to commercialization new ingredients and technologies for the fragrance and flavor industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct synthetic organic chemical reactions for the discovery of new fragrance and flavor molecules.
  • Skilled in purification techniques:  column chromatography, distillation, crystallization, etc.
  • Characterize molecules by NMR, GCMS and IR.
  • Evaluate commercial potential of new molecules by measuring performance in consumer products.  Experience with headspace experiments using TDU, DHS and SPME techniques.
  • Compile and report data to supervisor, present at group meetings and contribute to written reports.
  • Operate and perform basic maintenance of analytical instrumentation (GC, GCMS).
  • Maintain an accurate, detailed and up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Perform housekeeping duties and order supplies to maintain a neat, organized and well stocked laboratory.



  • B.S. degree in chemistry or related field with 10 years of R&D laboratory experience
  • Experience performing synthetic organic chemistry experiments.
  • Experience isolating and purifying reaction molecules by various techniques.
  • Experience with headspace analysis techniques (DHS, TDU and SPME).
  • Experience operating and maintaining gas chromatographs and mass spectrometers.
  • Experience with TDU, DHS and SPME techniques.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
