Director, Compensation & Benefits

We currently have an open position for Director, Compensation and Benefits, North America, based in Plainsboro, New Jersey, reporting to the SVP for Human Resources of North America.

 

Responsibilities:
The Director of Compensation and Benefits, North America, is responsible for designing, evaluating, and modifying compensation, benefit and total reward programs and policies for North America, in close coordination with Firmenich’s Global COEs, to ensure programs are current, competitive and in compliance with legal requirements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Build and maintain a total rewards strategy that is fully aligned with Firmenich’s strategic plan, motivates performance, is fiscally responsible, and supports the attraction, engagement and retention of high performing talent.
• Collaborate with Firmenich’s Global Total Rewards COE on execution of Firmenich’s salary and variable compensation and total rewards programs. Lead annual  compensation benchmarking review and ongoing job benchmark needs for North America.
• Analyze and evaluate pay equity practices, making recommendations  that reflect Firmenich’s pay equity principles and ambitions.
• Evaluate and compare existing company benefits with programs of other employers via analyzing benchmarking data, discussions with industry peers, and participating in area and industry surveys. Analyze results of surveys and develop specific recommendations for review by management.
• Review benefits portfolio performance; administer plan design options; interface with consultants, brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
• Develop educational tools that support benefits and compensation programs.
• Ensure cross-discipline coordination with all HR disciplines (compensation, benefits, HRIS, Service Delivery, etc.) and payroll where compensation, performance, benefits and/or payroll may be impacted.
• Ensure compliance of benefits programs, utilizing knowledge of benefits legislation (ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, other) and through keeping current on rules and regulations impacting benefits programs. Monitor implementation of benefit plan changes and annual enrollment changes and processes.
• Lead and coordinate processes for all benefits administration, such as medical/dental/life insurance, short-term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), health savings account (HSA), 401(k) plans, pension plans and FMLA/leave of absence.
• Provides leadership and oversight to the compensation and benefits team members.
Actively participates on the North America Human Resources Team as well as Firmenich’s Investment Committee


We Value:
• Strong knowledge of compensation (variable and non-variable) and total rewards methodologies and processes, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, 5500 filings, compensation, US labor law, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Must have excellent data analytical skills, with mastery of Excel.
• Strong presentation, communication and executive engagement skills.
• Must demonstrate support of Firmenich Fundamentals and Winning Behavior and
• Aptitude for balancing multiple priorities with strong organization and prioritization capability.
• Exceptional ability to build consensus across a wide range of constituents.
• Experience using SAP and Success Factors, with specific emphasis on compensation and benefits.

 

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business or related discipline required.
• Roles with increasing responsibility with a sustained performance in compensation, total rewards and benefits, including leading a team.
• Collaborating and working in an HR Global and Regional COE structure.
• CEBS certification and/or CCP designation preferred.
• Multi-state employer experience.
