Senior Process Engineer - Newark, NJ

 

We are seeking a high potential, energetic individual with sound technical skills to join our Process Engineering team. The team is active in the Conceptual design for new projects, the optimization & intensification of existing chemical processes at our manufacturing site in Newark, New Jersey as well as other sites in North America.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the process chemists in all process optimization & intensification efforts as well as process scale up and transfers to production within the site and beyond.
  • Assess existing production processes and propose optimizations projects leading to intensified, more cost-effective processes
  • Responsible for conceptual project design and close participation in detail design and commissioning. 
  • Work closely with process safety team to ensure safe transfer and operation of chemical processes and participate in HAZOP and process safety analysis
  • Provide troubleshooting support and technical advice to Chemical operations as required.
  • Familiarity with process control and on-line, real time analytical process analysis (PAT).
  • Lead multi-disciplinary internal and/or external projects in a cross divisional environment
  • Develop strong relationships with internal partners from chemical operations, HSE partners and the innovation community especially organic and analytical chemists to maximize value generation.
  • Build and manage relationships with external project engineering partners
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of the advancement of the technology related to the field of activity and propose new processes and technologies feasibility studies including literature and patent searches.
  • Write technical reports and report work progress at project meetings


Requirements:

  • B. S. in Chemical Engineering minimally.
  • 5 – 10 years of industrial experience in the Speciality/Fine Chemical industries.
  • Experience with distillation and process reaction chemistry.
  • Hands on experience and thorough understanding of chemical process unit operations especially eexperience with distillation.
  • Good understanding process chemistry.
  • Practical experience with continuous reactors, process intensification methodologies and in the field of reaction engineering.
  • Analytical thinking and proven problem-solving skills.
  • Proven project management skills able to work in a multidisciplinary, cross divisional environment
  • Hands on, dynamic, open-minded personality with good practical sense.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently
