Lab Chemist - Newark, NJ

Position Title: Lab Chemist


Location: Port Newark, NJ

We have an immediate opportunity for a Lab Chemist to join the Chemical Development team based in Port Newark, NJ.  Supervised by a Ph.D chemist, the new team member will work on development of the new and improved organic synthesis processes, and will help supporting the operating chemical plant.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans the experiments according to the supervisors’ guidance
  • Largely independently sets up the necessary equipment using glassware and/or metal (high pressure) hardware and runs the experimentation
  • Analyzes samples using GC (Gas Chromatography) and wet chemistry analytical techniques
  • Compiles the data and presents it to the supervisor.
  • Interacts with the Production personnel (operators, shift leaders) as necessary during the industrialization or troubleshooting of the chemical processes
  • He/she is also responsible for the overall lab housekeeping and timely ordering and proper handling of supplies, and for samples shipping.
  • As necessary, makes minor mechanical repairs on the equipment or identifies the need for off-site or professional repairs



  • B.S. degree in Chemistry with at least 5 years of industrial experience, or M.S. in Organic Chemistry or closely related field and at least 1 year of industrial experience, or a degree  in Chemical Engineering
  • Willing to consider exceptionally qualified new graduates
  • Hands-on experience at least in synthetic chemistry and separation operations like fractional distillation
  • Being curious and open-minded with excellent communication skills and team-player spirit
  • Capacity to work largely independently, good organization skills with setting priorities and being result oriented
