Chemical Operator - Newark, NJ

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and monitor process equipment in area of responsibility.
  • Maintain batch sheets, spreadsheets, control charts, and other documentation. Proactively recommend changes to Batch Sheets and SOPs.
  • Monitor process using GLC. Trouble-shooting equipment / process to resolve problems.
  • Troubleshoot process & equipment problems, automation program, and provide support to Guardian teams.
  • Material movements (drums, forklift, etc.). Coordinate activities with maintenance repairs, including preparing equipment and equipment releases. Also, ensuring safe operation of forklift, drum handling equipment.
  • Follow production, safety and quality procedures to verify and record information. Also, ensuring the understanding of Quality Control requirements for sampling and product testing.

 

 Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of chemical process experience preferred
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft office experience, strong Excel. Delta V Automation software a plus
  • Physical Demands: Able to climb stairs & ladders, drive forklift, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, measurements and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be able to work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule, 7 days week, 365 days per calendar year.

  • Knowledge of chemical process and an understanding of special formula instructions.
  • Knowledge of G.M.P’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and H.A.C.C.P (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
  • Prior equipment operator experience in a chemical manufacturing environment and in handling chemicals.
  • Previous forklift experience.
  • Ability to complete written and electronic batch records. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervision and employees.
