Plant Engineering Manager


We have an immediate opportunity for a Plant Engineering Manager based in our New Ulm, MN facility. The Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for all plant wide capital projects and the Maintenance department.  This position will be responsible for implementing the facility’s Maintenance programs, reduce downtime due to mechanical failures and initiating and managing all capital projects.  Areas of focus include process improvements, maintenance replacements, and new products and processes.  Other duties include supervising Maintenance personnel, contacts with community and utility officials, initiating and maintaining the Maintenance and Engineering department budget, and all capital project cost budgets.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate capital project and Maintenance performance on a routine basis to site and company managers.
  • Keep site management and employees informed of company policies and procedures.
  • Develop site programs and procedures that support improvement efforts of corporate objective and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and measure Maintenance and Engineering project budgets.
  • Implement and facilitate initial and ongoing Maintenance employees’ certifications.
  • Advise and/or represent site management in all matters concerning compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a high functioning Maintenance department.
  • Perform studies of various manufacturing processes in the plant and suggest improvements and cost savings.
  • Prior to start up, ensure plans and specifications for new or proposed process changes, equipment, or methods are reviewed for compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) principles and codes.
  • Provide risk assessment procedures and assistance to site employees and management in troubleshooting equipment, test methods, and any other function as necessary, with prompt notification of results. 
  • Train and support management in the proper use of in-house process control systems.  
  • Provide support to line management to provide ongoing equipment training to their department personnel.
  • Review new process equipment and improvements.
  • Submit annual plant equipment and building maintenance budgets.
  • Other duties may be required and assigned as necessary.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related.
  • Ten or more years experience in the Plant and Project Engineering field preferred; particularly food manufacturing or industrial
  • Knowledgeable in mechanical and electrical crafts
