Scientist - New York City, NY

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects to elucidate the fundamental information-processing mechanisms underlying olfactory perception, conducting analyses on existing datasets and helping plan collection of new data.
  • Develop data science pipelines & prototype analysis tools.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of relevant knowledge and technologies.
  • Continually identify opportunities to improve current procedures, protocols, and systems.
  • Participate in data interpretation and information sharing with the wider research team.
  • Communicate results both internally and externally, through a mixture of meetings, presentations, conferences, peer-reviewed publications and patents.

 

Requirements:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, or related field with 2+ years of post-doctoral academic or industry research experience.
  • Ability and motivation to quickly acquire new skills and craft creative solutions.
  • Demonstrable skills in statistics (including Bayesian probability), data science and coding.
  • Strong preference for additional expertise in Python, JavaScript, React, and/or R.
  • Experience and strong interest in olfactory biology, biochemistry, and/or sensory neuroscience would be a major advantage.
