Senior Scientist Industrial Biotechnology

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Key Responsibilities:

• Development of metabolic engineering approaches for ingredient production

• Management and execution of cross-divisional research projects

• Perform literature & patent searches related to target compounds and technologies

• Maintain a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific literature, competitor products and participation in scientific seminars and meetings

• Build relevant internal & external network of research partners

• Adhere to internal HS&E standards and policy

We value:

• Passion for science

• PhD in metabolic engineering or related discipline with at least 3 years’ work experience after PhD (academia or industry)

• Sound knowledge of and hands-on experience in metabolic engineering (constructing and/or optimizing metabolic pathways in microbial systems, design and assembly of large DNA constructs, design and implementation of screens and/or selection systems, assessment of strain performance) as a well a solid knowledge in microbial physiology

• In-depth knowledge and experience in the elucidation of secondary metabolites biosynthetic pathways in plant and microorganisms. A focus on F&F-relevant pathways is a plus

• Very good skills in data-science/bioinformatics

• Analytical, independent and creative thinking

• Ability to work independently in a cross-functional and multicultural environment

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

• Experience and/or willingness to manage research projects

• Fluent in English and French or willingness to learn French
