Our most complex fine chemical plant located in Geneva is looking for:

                                                                                                       Project Engineer Team Manager

 

  • We are looking for a strong leader with a solid experience in engineering studies from conceptual to execution and including end to end project management.
  • You will have the ability to lead and develop the group of project engineers (Firmenich employees and engineering companies’ employee) to drive efficiently the investments program supporting the Master Plan of the site
  • You are able to navigate within matrix and cross divisional organizations, with all functions involved in big projects: process Safety, process engineering, R&D Chemists, production, Global functions like engineering, manufacturing, controlling…
  • You will further develop a strong project engineering culture, supported by the Company values & standards, where ownership and performance are the aims
  • This would suit an enthusiastic and ambitious individual with a proven ability to lead a team of engineers and to communicate/share his results driven mindset.
     
    Responsibilities:
     
  • Lead a team of Project engineers for local investment projects including budgeting and scheduling responsibility.
  • Develop the team and the performances of the engineering department through Continuous improvement and in alignment with the Strategy and the site’s mission & goals: Safety, Sustainability, Quality, Reliability, Project management, Costs and Competitiveness
  • Improve performance of engineering operations on a global basis measured by key performance indicators against industrial standards/internal & external benchmarks
  • Build and lead a network of engineering operations specialists to integrate internal & external best practice standards into current operations while co-operating with engineering operations specialists outside of Firmenich
  • Initiate, drive and manage the definition & implementation of projects based on best practices/industry standards to realize continuous improvements through optimization and standardization
  • Plan and implement manufacturing facilities, including attachments, utilities and building technology.
  • Ensure of all projects are technically fit for purpose and meet the statutory requirements.
  • Assess customer needs and satisfaction regularly and adjust services accordingly.
  • Ensure a good alignment and an efficient teamwork with the key clients and partners on site (Production, Logistic, R&D, Quality control, Planning, Maintenance, Support functions) and outside (Technical Division, Purchasing, Finance, other sites, Local Authorities, etc…)
  • Provide technical support to the cost controller to allow the generation of estimates at project commencement and for any potential scope change.
  • Optimize partnerships and contracts with contracting companies
  • Role model a leadership style which is inclusive, proactive, respectful, communicative, change agile, innovation/creativity and results driven
     
    Experience & Skills:
     
  • Leader and team player with good communication capability, able to drive change and to give clear direction
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people at a site or plant level and influence up and across
  • Minimum of 5 years in engineering management position preferably in the chemical industry
  • Very good knowledge in the field of technical regulations and the specific requirements of the chemical industry
  • Experience with justifying, sponsoring, and running capital projects personally
  • Deep understanding of return on investment
  • Demonstrated ability to drive challenging cost optimization programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Safety and customer focused
  • LEAN, Six Sigma or Continuous improvement experience preferred
  • Some demonstrated experience in chemical process engineering
  • Languages: Fluent in English/French
     
    Academic Background:
     
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Mechanical…)
  • Certificate or proven experience in Project Management
  • Post-graduate business or project management qualification preferred
  • Proven leadership in the management of project engineers/managers implementing multiple projects
