Assistant Scientist - Organic Chemistry

Location: La Plaine, Geneva, Switzerland

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Design, plan and execute laboratory-scale experiments in collaboration with the lab head

  • Provide support for the scale-up and transfer of chemical processes to pilot/production scale

  • Recognize technical issues and propose solutions on lab as well as pilot/production scale

  • Writing of technical reports and reporting work progress incl. presentations at project meetings

  • Develop strong relationships with internal partners from the chemical production and the innovation community

  • Ensure proper and rigorous application of HS&E standards in daily work

  • Perform literature and patent searches

  • Maintain a high level of awareness of the advancement of the technology and processes related to the field of activity.

 

We value:
 

Laboratory technician with a federal certificate (CFC) and with a very good understanding of organic chemistry, analytical quantification tools, and a passion for organic chemistry. A few years of work experience would be a plus.

 

  • MS in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or a BS ideally with some industrial experience
  • Proven hands-on laboratory experience preferably through an apprenticeship as lab technician (CFC Chemistry lab technician)
  • Good knowledge of chemistry and a sound understanding of chemical process unit operations.
  • Experience in the characterization of target molecules: isolation/purification/analysis (GC-MS, HPLC, NMR & IR)
  • A hands-on and dynamic personality with a good practical sense
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and open-minded
  • Good time management skills and ability to work independently
  • Good knowledge of French or willingness to learn the language as well as Good written and oral communication skills in English
