(Senior) Scientist Analytical Chemistry

 

 

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Explore, develop and apply advanced methods to analyze volatile and non-volatile compounds in complex samples relevant to the fragrance, flavor and food industries.
  • Within the global analytical team, play a leading role in the processing of large sets of analytical data (automated identification from MS, metabolomics, statistics, etc).
  • Understand the needs of research partners from other teams such as synthetic chemistry, biochemistry, or food science and use appropriate analytical techniques to provide relevant results.
  • Capitalize on knowledge and experience in advanced analytical techniques to solve difficult analytical challenges.
  •  Stay aware of innovative new analytical techniques and evaluate their potential for the company.
  • Communicate project results proactively to multiple stakeholders and document final accomplishments in reports.
  • Build strategic scientific relationships with external experts.
  • Supervise one or more technicians.

 

We value:

 

  • PhD, preferably with post-doctoral experience, specialization in analytical chemistry
  • Sound knowledge of organic chemistry
  • Expertise in GC, GC/MS, HPLC and LC/MS
  • Sound knowledge of advanced analytical data processing tools for automated identification and quantification of compounds in complex samples, experience with vendors and open source software solutions appreciated
  • Experience in related fields such as food science, metabolomics, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, natural products or high-throughput screening would be a plus
  • Highly creative to address fundamental and practical challenges

  • Excellent team spirit, communication skills and networking capacity
  • Leadership skills, capability to develop direct reports and inspire colleagues
  • Preferably at least 5 years of professional experience
