HR Director, Business Partner- Princeton, NJ



We currently have an incredible opportunity for an HR Director, Business Partner in Princeton, NJ. This role reports into the SVP Human Resources, North America.  This role requires strategic HR vision and capabilities as well as a practical, hands-on approach. Proactive team player, advisor and coach who provides full cycle Human Resources support to the commercial Perfumery Business in North America to achieve ambitious growth targets.

This role is critical in executing our people strategies and initiatives, driving cultural transformation, talent management, leadership effectiveness and people performance, being a trusted business partner with sharp critical and analytical thinking that brings solutions, enhancing individual and team effectiveness and boosting manager accountability. 



Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as an active and visible HR Partner as a member of management teams of Perfumery and other client group(s) as well as the North America HR Leadership Team, providing input, strong influence and counsel on HR-related matters to successfully meet business objectives and drive tangible improvements.
  • Provide compelling HR leadership for all existing and future sites for Perfumery by designing and implementing holistic and ambitious people strategies and an agile organization for the region, in alignment and partnership with the Global HR Function.
  • Lead critical HR and people strategic priorities such as defining and evolving organizational culture, executive and manager coaching, performance management, development, succession planning, talent management, diversity and inclusion, and change management, communications, process simplification, facilitation support and M&A.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to drive sourcing and recruitment activities for the division. Help facilitate the movement of talent globally through global mobility programs.
  • Provide counsel, advice and recommendations to managers ensuring proper handling of constructive employee relations in line with Firmenich Ethics and Business Conduct and local laws/regulations.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of local, North America HR strategy and contribute to and manage local HR simplification activities for HR Division.
  • Partner with regional HR Centers of Excellence to implement integrated people and organization solutions, e.g., onboarding, benefits, leadership development, staffing and reward and recognition, training, and employee data integrity.

  • Proven track record for driving transformational change while maintaining performance. 
  • Strong willingness and agility to work across the value chain of HR activities, including strategic and tactical.
  • Bachelor’s degree required: HR, Business, Finance, Communication or similar field of study. Master’s preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of successful, progressive (increasing responsibilities, promotion, scope and capabilities) HR experience in primarily medium-sized (1,000-5,000 FTEs) with strong proficiency of all HR aspects. Blend of HR and/or non-HR work career experiences considered favorably.
  • Savvy with data-driven analytics to determine insights for action and able to proficiently and independently use standard HR systems and tools (SAP, Success Factors, Standard Reports, Excel).
  • Travel approximately 10% (primarily within NY/NJ and potentially internationally).
