Associate R&D Director

Location: Shanghai, China


Key Responsibilities:


  • Initiate, lead, deliver and contribute to projects related to the development of natural ingredients for the Flavor and Fragrance industry
  • Lead product development from laboratory to industrialization, including pilot and process transfer
  • Lead a research team, including Scientists and Technicians; provide them with necessary scientific, engineering and safety guidance in order to further grow and develop,
  • Develop strong network for Process Engineering in China by ensuring the team is well connected throughout R&D, with business partners and relevant academic groups, both locally and globally.
  • Formulate and execute a strategy for the team including evaluation of new target compounds, in line with the company R&D strategy.
  • Assess new technologies for use in our market and develop these competencies either in-house or through strategic partnerships
  • Nurture a culture of work safety in own group and support other teams with process safety expertise


We value:


  • PhD or MS degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, biochemical engineering, food engineering or related field. At least 7 years of experience in R&D, preferably in F&F, FMCG or Specialty/Fine Chemicals for scaling up, piloting or industrialization transfers.
  • Sound hands-on skills in the field of unit operation for separation processes.
  • Self-starter, entrepreneur with strategic vision and good understanding on how to create business value from science (ideally in Flavor and Fragrance industry).
  • Strong ability to build work relationship within R&D, with business partners, IP and regulatory professions, and with academia.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership in management of people and projects in a global context.
  • Excellent communication skills and cross collaboration spirit; Fluent in English and Chinese.
