Seafood Technical Manager

Key Responsibilities: 


•    Product development: responsible for creating Seafood solutions (powders, extracts, blended with flavor) for taste and nutrition purposes. Understand the basics of Seafood production processes (evaporation, drying, enzymatic digestion, etc.) and sourcing; additional knowledge in thermal reactions, fermentation, and flavors/seasonings will be valued. In addition to Taste and Flavors, the Technical Manager will be responsible for developing an extended range of nutrition-based solutions, based on Seafood proteins and other intrinsic nutrients
•    Applications: the ability to reproduce at lab scale the most common food applications such as soups, surimi, cooking aids, noodles, prepared meals, food service, fish analogues, pet foods, etc. to evaluate and propose the best taste and nutrition solutions to projects, taking into consideration cost in use, regulatory and other important factors. (training will be offered)
•    Global technical support. provide direction, train and engage regional & local resources (non-seafood dedicated) to successfully respond to client briefs
•    Technical Sales: interact directly with product developers at clients to successfully introduce Firmenich products, driven by a sales and profitability focus and targets (in co-ordination with the Sales team)
•    Global Seafood Toolbox (Flavour & Nutrition) collection ownership. Supports the introduction of new Raw Materials and suppliers and leads product portfolio renovation initiatives and supports global promotions
•    Product/technology gap identification. Being in contact with clients, suppliers and other external stakeholders of the industry, we expect the selected candidate to identify new opportunities and or gaps in our portfolio of solutions and initiate proactive innovation projects to develop the solution required to monetize those opportunities
•    To lead the interaction with the Innovation community at Firmenich (Program, Tonality Leaders and R&D) providing inputs and participating in Seafood related innovation projects
•    To manage the interface with Regulatory, Supply Chain, Product Industrialization & Procurement 

 

 

We Value:


•    Innovative and technical with strong business sense, hands-on, curious, self-driven, resilient and flexible
•    A bachelor’s degree in Seafood related fields such as food science, food engineering, chemical engineering or nutrition
•    Previous working experience in the Food, Seafood, Human Nutrition or Flavours business, will be preferred
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven ability to interact with a wide network of stakeholders within the technical, marketing, sales and finance communities
•    Excellent interpersonal skills to successfully navigate a matrixial organization. Adept to work as part of multidisciplinary teams and able to build strong and constructive working relationships with colleagues both internally and externally
