EHS Supervisor | DRT America | Rincon, Ga.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Compliance Manager with a dotted line to the Plant Manager, this position will have responsibility for executing and monitoring the Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) & Security programs and also for coordinating and executing routine PSM related activities for the Rincon plant.  This role will provide technical knowledge and support to departments ensuring that the plant is operated in a safe and environmentally sustainable manner with regard to all Federal, State, Local and Corporate Environmental, Safety, and Process Safety Regulations.     

 

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, AND SAFETY PROGRAM RELATED RESPONSIBILITES

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety program requirements in alignment with company priorities, to include conducting safety training, leading safety meetings, leading safety committee, performing audits and inspections of manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all Environmental operating permits, including Synthetic Minor Air Operating Permit, Industrial Pretreatment Permit, Storm Water Protection Plan, and Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures Plan.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and other required safety trainings.
  • Facilitate effective outage safety support for the company.
  • Drive cultural change through the organization towards safe operations.
  • Complete and submit all required reporting related to the above operating permits. 
  • Track plant waste generation and coordinate disposal/removal. 
  • Provide ongoing performance monitoring and mentoring to employees.  Provides suggestions for employee EHS development needs and opportunities
  • Ensures all facility and/or corporate safety critical work practices are implemented, adhered to, and proactively updated, with special attention to “Hot Work”, Confined Space Entry, Emergency Response, HAZWOPER, Line Breaking, Respiratory Protection, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Maintains company Safety Manual, Procedures, Emergency Response Plan and monitors compliance of program.
  • Coordinates all facility emergency response and site evacuation programs, including the design and execution of annual drills and management communication.
  • Creates Job Hazard Analysis and the investigation of employee concerns, injuries, H&S incidents, and Employee Observation/Near Misses. Develops and tracks all accident/near miss investigations and corrective actions to closure.
  • Completes Emergency Response After-Action Reports for review.
  • Develops an effective communication processes and KPI's to make safety priorities and performance visible.
  • Oversees worker’s compensation claims, working with the employee and medical providers to ensure that the proper level of care is administered.
  • Drive and lead efforts to maintain a zero-incident culture by fostering relationships throughout the company.
  • Responsible for OSHA 300 Logs, Tier II, Method 9 Opacity Readings, State Fire Inspector notifications, and other government and internal mandated reporting requirements.
  • Conduct routine assessments of safety program through leading and lagging performance indicator audits
  • Responsible for administering the employee health and wellness programs, to include employee physicals, drug screens, and other wellness activities.
  • Champions environmental initiatives to include SWPPP, SPCC, waste disposal, labeling, and training requirements.
  • Champions facility Contractor Safety Program  
  • Assists the facility in identifying capital and expense/repair budget needs, related to safety, health, and environmental needs
  • Ensures timely completion of EHS related goods requisitions and receipts


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental, Health and Safety or other related field and 2 years work experience in a safety position within an industrial site with hazardous chemicals covered under OSHA’s PSM standard. 
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements in air, water, storm water, wastewater, hazardous waste, solid waste, and OSHA.
  • Working knowledge of common EHS tools, including JSAs, behavior-based methods, machine safeguarding, incident investigation, change management and auditing.
  • Ability to establish relationships and build trust throughout the organization.
  • Ability to maintain/manage confidential information.
  • High degree of personal responsibility and initiative is required.  Must possess a high level of integrity as well as excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with various departments. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Computer Proficiency in all MS Office Software Applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a post-offer pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check.
