Lab Technician | Pinova, Inc | Brunswick, Ga.

POSITION SUMMARY
Pinova Incorporated is currently seeking a Lab Technician 2 to perform finished product and wood quality testing. Following established test methods and procedures, the Technician in this role will analyze samples using instrumental analysis, wet chemistry, and physical testing techniques, as well as performing calibrations and minor maintenance on equipment. This position will interface with plant production and shipping personnel, and reports to the QC Laboratory Supervisor.

 

RESPONSIBILITES

• Collect, prepare and test samples.

• Record and analyze data.

• Maintain appropriate logs.

• Write reports, reviews and summaries.

• Perform routine checks and maintenance on equipment to ensure operational reliability at all times.

• Able to demonstrate test methods and procedures.

• Completion of environmental, safety, GMP, security and all other required training.

• Understand and comply with chemical and waste labeling.

• Maintain housekeeping in the work area to ensure a safe and clean workplace.

• Order and maintain lab supplies, including drums of solvents.

• Maintain awareness of safety issues and requirements. Report any concerns to area supervision or EH&S Manager.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

• B.S. degree in Chemistry or related scientific field with lab experience preferred, OR 3+ years chemical plant operations experience, including the use and calibration of similar laboratory analytical equipment, required.

• Possess a strong commitment to safety and environmental issues with a willingness to adhere to all plant safety and health rules, procedures and guidelines.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Must be proficient in computer operation with experience using Outlook, Word, Excel, Lotus Notes and SAP.

• Organized, self-motivated, pro-active and results-oriented with the ability to multi-task.

• Possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, as well as work with attention to detail.

• Able to work independently and with a team to accomplish goals and meet schedules.

• Participate in team activities and communicate with team members with dignity and respect.

• Able to work a twelve-hour rotating shift and work overtime as needed.
