Quality Engineer | Pinova, Inc., Brunswick, Ga.


Pinova Incorporated is currently seeking a Quality Engineer.  The successful candidate will be integral in the creation a strong quality culture at Pinova.  Key responsibilities will include leading the internal assessment process, reviewing data to determine how to reduce product variability, oversite of the process to manage customer inquiries and complaints, and the reporting of quality KPIs via dashboards and reports.  This individual will be the owner of the current documents library and will become an SAP subject matter expert.  Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will help ensure compliance with policies, procedures and training materials for the quality and food safety programs.   These programs including, but not limited to, ISO 9001:2015, Food Defense Plans, the Safe Quality Food (SQF) standard or other commensurate Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) schemes. 



  • Oversite of the internal audit process for the quality department
  • Performs internal assessments and audits for all quality related programs, including ISO and Food Safety.
  • Set-up audit schedule, templates and gap closure plans
  • Engages plant personnel in the audit and assessment process.
  • Facilitates root causes analysis on any findings to prevent reoccurrence and tracks all findings to closure.
  • Documentation of audit findings and audit responses including root cause analysis and corrective action in the audit management database.
  • Ownership of the quality document management system
  • Subject matter expert for the system
  • Ensure that the documents are properly reviewed and implemented.
  • Update documents at the direction of the quality manager to align with current regulations.
  • Participation in Quality System reviews and tests.  Including Food safety (HACCP) plans, Food Defense plans, business continuity, food fraud and food defense, mock recalls, and product quality reviews.
  • Serves as backup to Quality Manager with regards to product quality SME
  • Oversite of actions associated with customer complaints, customer requests, non-conforming products and product returns
  • Facilitates the investigation into customer complaints and non-conforming products.
  • Confirms that root cause analysis are complete and corrective action plans are effective and properly documented.
  • Ensures timely closure and customer response.
  • Set up system to respond to customer requests.
  • Facilitates efforts to reduce product variability in operations
  • Analyzes production data.  Reports trends to operations to ensure quality products.
  • Performs statistical analysis of critical parameters
  • Work with innovation and operations team as needed to address product variability.
  • Develops and drives Quality Improvement Initiatives (Plant and Laboratory) to assure compliance with Quality Systems.
  • Creates quality reports
  • Creates weekly, monthly and annual quality reports – including automating the data extraction.
  • Creates and updates KPI dashboards for different levels of the organization to have daily visibility into the quality metrics.
  • Participate in the planning, data preparation, execution and reporting for Management Review meetings.

Quality Control Systems Support

  • Oversite of the Calibration and Preventive Maintenance Programs for laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • SAP Quality Module Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) SME.  



  • BS degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or Science related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management systems including knowledge of ISO 9001 and SQF systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Quality investigation and root cause analysis techniques
  • Minimum of 2 years prior quality and manufacturing experience
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Quality superuser for ERP system (SAP).


  • Certifications:  ASQ, CQE, Six Sigma, Lead Auditor
  • 5 years Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in a regulated environment including ISO, SQF, and GMP
  • 2-5 years of experience with CAPA RCA Investigations / Corrective Actions
  • Prior experience working with SAP and LIMS systems
