Process Controls Engineer | Pinova, Inc. | Brunswi

OVERVIEW:

Pinova, Inc. is seeking a Senior Process Controls Engineer to support our manufacturing facilities in Brunswick, Ga. And Rincon, Ga.

This person’s primary responsibility will be to provide technical support for the capital projects team in the development, execution, installation, startup and turnover of PLC, DCS and instrumentation related assets either with outside engineering firms or completely in-house as required.

This person would also work with the in-house E&I team to ensure that all production processes and related equipment are running reliably and effectively. This includes monitoring equipment and process parameters, planning upgrades and maintenance, and leading the development and implementation of changes that improve uptime and output quality. The candidate will also provide technical leadership and direction while working with Maintenance and E&I to recommend, develop and put into place long term strategic site-wide automation/process control improvement programs.  

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Electrical, Chemical or Controls Engineering.
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience
  • PMP a plus.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification a plus
  • DCS Experience: Foxboro, DeltaV, Novatech.
  • Experience in HMI Development, Programming, Hardware & Software Design.
  • PLC Experience: Allen Bradley programing, Hardware & Software design
  • A fundamental understanding of ethernet and fiber networks and network hardware
  • OSI/PI Experience: Maintaining and developing PI systems
  • OEE/Dashboard/Asset Framework Development
  • Process Instrumentation specification, installation, calibration, spanning & troubleshooting a must.
  • Experienced with continuous and batch chemical production process controls.


SUMMARY:

  • Provide project leadership on process control capital projects - this includes scope definition, specifying instrumentation (specs sheets), design, implementation, commissioning, training and handover to operations
  • Directing and implementing capital projects to assure project deliverables, schedule, budget, goals and project metrics are realized.
  • Will prepare scope documents and budgets based on conceptual reviews and meetings with project teams related to new instruments, PLC’s and control logic.
  • Manage outside contractors and vendors in the maintenance and installation of new and existing control systems.
  • Examine and approve designs, evaluating changes and drawing releases
  • Collaborate with operations and process technology personnel on design and instrumentation specifications in order to create front end packages as part of capital projects. 
  • Reviews Client's technical documentation and requirements and prepares engineering & installation specifications for instruments, systems (DCS, ESD, F&G). Defines all engineering requirements.
  • Prepares the technical documentation for instrumentation and systems
  • Evaluate vendor/contractor bids, produce services and equipment bid requirements and generate procurement recommendations.
  • Optimizes instrument systems ensuring minimal cost and simplification in compliance with the required performance.
  • Work with CAD technician to detail instrumentation PFD’s, P&ID’ during FEL and detail design phase.
  • Prepares instrument data sheets and loop diagrams.
  • Prepares functional analysis (control, ESD, F&G).
  • Devise methods to reduce costs, implement lean manufacturing practices, and determine root causes of issues by utilizing statistical analyses.
  • Will analyze equipment trends, historical data, and field data to develop measurable programs which will obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment
  • Play a leading role within the site in identifying and implementing opportunities where improvements in safety, reliability, efficiency and cost performance can be realized by the application of process control technology.
  • Devise methods to reduce costs, implement lean manufacturing practices, and determine root causes of issues by utilizing statistical analyses.
  • Initiate, implement and maintain new control system procedures, guidelines and standards and review and enhance existing ones
  • Provide technical support to operations which at times may require extensive programming activities out in the field.
  • Provide manufacturing support to the E&I group to troubleshoot issues as pertaining to PLC controls, instrumentation tuning, data historians and production scheduling.
  • Play a leading role in the development of the site’s strategic long-range automation technology plan and standardization.
  • Keep informed of emerging technologies and their application to control systems
  • Be proficient in computer operation and basic programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint (SAP/CAD desirable).
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills to produce project reports and documentation.
  • Creative thinking and excellent problem-solving skills
