Senior Fragrance Development Manager

Job Summary:  

The Sr. Fragrance Development Manager guides the development process and determines the appropriate fragrance (s) to fulfill customer briefs, either by creative collaboration with perfumery or selecting submissions for
modification from the internal library. Coordinates all aspects of the fragrance development process, ensuring compatibility with the requested olfactive profile, customer guidelines, regulatory guidelines, bases, pricing
parameters, stability protocol, etc. Also coordinates with sales to ensure total customer satisfaction and timely completion of briefs. Highly proficient in communicating and presenting to clients. This position is mostly focused
on development for the Body Care category, but may also include cross category development such as Air Care and Fine Fragrance.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Functions: 

 

  • Works closely with Director of Fragrance Development to ensure resource allocation is consistent with overall business objectives..
  • Manages projects throughout the development cycle for all assigned accounts.
  • Works with Perfumery to develop fragrances specific to project requirements and guidelines, and to create innovative fragrances for broad use.
  • Performs thorough olfactive evaluation of fragrances for assigned projects, including in-use testing
  • Participates in in-house olfactive panel testing, manages and analyzes olfactive stability testing.
  • Collaborates with marketing in developing trend forward fragrances and concepts.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of market products, and assigned customers brands, as well as market trends in these areas.
  • Compiles olfactive mappings of customer product lines and market product lines.
  • Exchanges in creative dialogues with customers, sales and internal creative staff.
  • Presents Fragrance Trainings and various presentations to customers and staff and assists in the development and update of the training curriculum.
  • Evaluates stability samples for a variety of customers.
  • Competent in the utilization of Innovation paired with fragrance creations.


Additional Job Competencies / Job Relationships / Specialized Skills

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Concur. 
  • Vast, up to date awareness of scented products across assigned customer categories. 
  • Excellent customer service, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a group.


Minimum Qualifications:  

  • 10 years minimum experience in a Fragrance Development role.
  • Ability to travel when needed (potentially 4 to 5 times a year).
  • Professional Degree.
